Sandra Hunt and her team at The Laurels were awarded highly commended in the 2020 RCVS Knowledge Awards for this audit.

The team started with an audit to understand their benchmark for the number of patients having their body temperature monitored post-operatively. This audit revealed that only 13% of patients had their temperature monitored.

The team met to discuss how this could be improved and implemented a number of changes including a checklist. The re-audit showed a significant improvement, with 100% of the patients having their temperatures taken and recorded.

Download the PDF and read the case example to get deeper insights into the methods and outcomes, and to apply these strategies in your own practice to enhance patient safety and care.
