Help us help dogs diagnosed with cruciate ligament rupture
Thank you for your interest in the Canine Cruciate Registry. Treating cruciate ligament injury in dogs is the most common orthopaedic surgery performed, however we do not have a strong evidence base to know which surgical techniques give the best outcomes.
To address the gap in the evidence around cruciate surgery, we have set up an electronic system called the Canine Cruciate Registry. The system generates a series of questionnaires that you and your vet are asked to complete over the course of your dog’s care and afterwards to monitor their long term progress.
The registry is run by RCVS Knowledge, a charity dedicated to improving quality of veterinary care for the benefit of animals, the public and society.
Why take part in the Canine Cruciate Registry
By taking part in the registry, your veterinary surgeon is showing that they are committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for the animals that they treat. The registry will allow your veterinary surgeon to monitor the quality of the treatment they give. It is only through the information that you and other owners share, that we will be able to build a picture of which techniques give the best outcomes and have the fewest complications.
Your participation will help us learn more about your dog’s recovery and will contribute to building knowledge that will help all dogs undergoing cruciate surgery in the future.
What happens next?
When your dog has had surgery, you will receive regular emails asking about their care and recovery.
You will be asked to complete the same short questionnaires and asked to report any complications.
The registry is free to use for both owners and veterinary surgeons.
